  • Year 1 English
  • Ongoing
  • 23 to 25 pupils per check
71% to 86% class accuracy across three post-topic Wayground checks

Approach

I use Wayground as a formative check after a topic. The instant feedback shows me where misconceptions sit so I can adapt teaching and plan targeted support straight away.

Impact

Assessment feeds directly into planning: misconceptions are addressed quickly and support is matched to need rather than guessed at.

Evidence

Three post-topic checks ran across the year, spanning English and wider curriculum topics, with 23 to 25 pupils taking each one. Class accuracy was 72% on helping roles and good citizenship, 71% on the parts of a story and 86% on compound words. Anonymised session reports are available on request.

Reflection

The value is in acting on the data the same day. I keep the quizzes short and frequent so they inform teaching without becoming a test in their own right.
